Caribou
Caribou is essentially a one-man musical octopus created by an upber-talented Canadian electronic whiz named Dan Snaith. Since way back in 2000, Snaith has been responsible for some of the most beautiful and impossible-to-classify electronic music ever whipped up on a laptop. To classify Caribou simply as an electronic act would be far too simple, past releases--particularly 2005's The Milk of Human Kindness and 2007's spectacular Andorra--are weird hybrids of electrified beats and live instrumentation that exist within their own peculiar musical universe. Few artists have the same knack for writing songs that balance catchy melodies with such superbly weird sounds, which is what makes the announcement of a new Caribou record so exciting. This April Snaith will release Swim --Caribou's highly-anticipated new album. Now there is finally something to look forward to, besides just the end of winter.

The full-length record is still a couple of months away, but you can check out the first single right now here at Soundgirl.com. Then head over to Caribou's website to download a free MP3 for yourself.
